Astelia chathamica is commonly known as Silver Bush Flax, Kakaha, or Silver Spear. This NZ Native is one of the most distinctive species of Astelia available. It has broad spiky silvery green leaves which droop at their tips, and orange berries from Feb-June which attract birds. Prefers rich, well-drained soil and protection from frosts.
